About Alton
Motto: “If it ain’t fun, I ain’t agonna do it”
A true Son of the South, born in Columbus, Georgia and loves The Great State of Georgia like no other.
Alton has been a storyteller all his life. At a very young age he used to tell friends of his parents how he knew Roy Rogers, Gene Autry, John Wayne and how they lived on a working ranch in Texas. None true, not one bit, but every storyteller should be able to tell Tall Tales. That fine day, a long long time ago, a great storyteller was discovered.
Alton Russell recently received the “Lifetime Achievement Award” from the Atlanta Society of Entertainers. The award is presented to Alton as an entertainer and storyteller, and continuous community involvement in Georgia and the Southeast.
Alton tells to adults and children with a specialty in different costumes to fit the story theme.
Cowboys and the Mountain Man of the pre 1840 era are his favorites. He is known to still play cowboys at special events, with his friends, Cowboy Bill, Wrangler Marv, Mike Powers and the Los Pistoleros gang.
He has been known to show up at Halloween story times as the undertaker, and
using his 7’ measurement stick check out who will fit the casket. It is always surprising and fun for all…and sometimes even scary.

Alton has traveled all over the country telling stories, having fun and entertaining children of all ages.
